We’ve spoken numerous times about the benefit after benefit of coffee not just on your health, but specifically how it boosts your workouts. It doesn’t just perk you up so that you feel like taking on the world, it also helps burn fat and push harder.
But, lets be honest, few people are chugging a piping hot coffee before hitting up the gym, or bringing a mug of coffee to swig between sets. But, do you know what people do that with? Protein drinks. It’s time we merged the benefit of protein shakes with that of coffee.
Here’s what you need:
- 1 cup of your favorite coffee
- 1-2 scoops of your favorite protein powder (whatever your protein shake recommends. We recommend sticking with either chocolate or vanilla in flavor though)
- 2 cups of almond milk
This makes the base. Tweak the base around what your diet and exercise and taste profile is. Is it okay to have carbs? Then consider tossing in a banana, or another mildly flavored fruit. Toss in ice cubes or nonfat ice cream if you want a cold shake (I personally like room temperature protein drinks though, which is what the base will be once you drive to the gym after mixing it). Creatine and berries can make it weird. But, if you’re just looking purely for the results and not the flavors, go for it.
