Slovak company CLRCFF has launched a clear coffee.  Yes, you heard correctly.  A clear coffee.

With recent press from Buzzfeed, Cosmopolitan, and some major media outlets it is starting to gain some momentum.

The drink is advertised to be coffee that does not stain your teeth.  Which sounds pretty awesome in and of itself.  They also loudly market that it does not have any sugars, sweeteners, preservatives, or stabilizers (whatever a stabilizer is supposed to be).

It must have something else besides pure coffee in it, however.  This is due to the fact that it has sodium and calories, which regular coffees do not (unless they have sugars or other things added).

Clear Coffee is meant to be served cold, and is a year-round drink, according to its social media.

Although seemingly new to us here in the United States (the original publishing date of this article being April 21, 2017), but Clear Coffee seems to have been around since at least May of 2015.  That is when the company’s Facebook posts first begin, and it seem their posts are mostly Slovak to begin with.

Although it is a Slovak company, it does seem their sales mostly focus in the UK, both according to its press and its business partners.  It is available in select Selfridges (a UK based department store) and select Whole Foods stores.

Despite the media storm, it must be new, as when you search for it on the Selfridges site, it comes back with nothing.

If the media attention it is gaining now is any indication, they may have a hit on their hands.  This is further evident as their site says that due to a large volume of orders, it now takes 3-4 weeks for delivery within the UK.

They currently cost a pretty penny, however.  Or, should we say a pretty pound?  For a single 200mL bottle (approximately 6.75 ounces) it costs 5.99£, or $7.68 USD in today’s exchange rate.

Or, you can purchase a 5 pack for 14.99£ ($19.21 USD).

Right now, on their website, they only give you the option to have it delivered to the UK or the US.  But, if you’re bold enough to wait for their delays due to heavy orders, it’s only an additional 14.99£/$19.21 USD for shipping also.

This is ironic that this just hit the US news, since before we were aware of this, Match Made Coffee’s Facebook has a joke post in its lineup this week: “Deep thought of the day: coffee-flavored water sounds horrible, but when you think about it, that’s exactly what coffee is.”

And, on that note, what do you guys think?  Would you order it at those prices?  Should we try including something comparable in our subscription boxes?
