Oreo has been dabbling with flavors outside of its traditional chocolate and vanilla cookie. And, coffee is sure to go well with these new Oreo flavors.
An Oreo representative has confirmed that in January 2021, 2 new flavors will be available.
Java Chip Oreos
As reported by People magazine, Java Chip will be one of the flavors. This is the classic chocolate exterior of an Oreo, with the interior vanilla swapped out. This new Oreo flavor will be coffee-flavored with little bits of chocolate chips mixed in as well.
We don’t want to say that they’re kinda copying our delicious coffee and cookie pairing subscription box, but it’s nice to see big companies dabbling in our forte. Although, ideally you wouldn’t just want to throw coffee flavoring into the cookie and call it a pair, it’s still a good effort and better than most.
Chocolate Hazelnut
The second of the two new Oreo flavors confirmed is a chocolate hazelnut cream, sandwiched between the two classic chocolate pieces. Given the popularity of Nutella, and using Nutella as an ingredient for cookies, has been so popular, this is sure to be a hit as well.
Hazelnut is a rare natural coffee flavor, but it does exist in the larger cocoa/chocolatey coffee flavor section. The newest official coffee flavor wheel includes a hazelnut subsection, as a matter of fact. However, it tends to be more of an added flavor to rich or desserty type coffees, as we included in these amazing coffee recipes here.
Although nothing has quite beaten the classic Oreo, they do try out limited time flavors every now and again.
Previously, There Was Tiramisu
Earlier this year Oreo released a tiramisu flavor, as a matter of fact. Yet another yummy dessert that goes well with an after meal coffee.
